Brave Dave's Speedruns Around Snowdonia

Sometimes when I'm in Snowdonia and I have a spare afternoon or evening I like to pick a peak and run up and down it as fast as I can, just to see how quickly I can do it. I love leading clients up and over the mountains but obviously those hikes are slow and steady. It's good to be able to just power up and down, and push myself a bit. Especially if it's getting darker by the minute!

My Tryfan Speedrun | Up North Ridge, Down West Gully (September 2021)

After leading a couple of guys in Snowdonia for two days I had a bit of energy left, so before driving home I decided to see how quickly I could get up Tryfan (my last speedrun up there was in 2017).

I also took the opportunity to descend via West Gully which I'd never actually done before. The next time I'm doing the Welsh 3000s I'll definitely come down that way again as it shaves off a ton of time compared to other routes!

If you ever feel like you need an hour or so of gentle cardio exercise to perk you up a bit then I can recommend storming up and down Tryfan on a sunny afternoon. Maybe don't do it if you've got dodgy knees though.

Brave Dave's Crib Goch Speedrun - Probably A World Record ;) (October 2018)

Yeah, I know I post a lot of videos of Crib Goch. I've been up there a lot recently. What ya gonna do?

I've always wondered how fast I could cross Crib Goch if I tried, and now I know! Anyone dare to challenge me? Well you shouldn't, because you'll probably die.

My Speed Run Up Tryfan: North Ridge At Sunset (April 2017)

Saturday 25th March 2017: After having spent all day on Snowdon I decided to drive around to Tryfan and see how fast I could climb its north ridge. I set off as the sun was getting lower so I pretty much had the whole mountain to myself.

Brave Dave's Snowdon Horseshoe Speed Run (September 2016)

After sleeping in a car in a layby for 6 days whilst doing my Mountain Leader training in Snowdonia I set decided to see how fast I could run/scramble the Snowdon Horseshoe.

Racing Down Crib Goch's North Ridge As The Light Fades (April 2015)

After climbing up Crib Goch again to see the sunset I started descending back down to the car, quickly realising that it was a bit more dangerous than I'd thought it would be due to steep slopes, slippery ground, hidden cliffs, no paths and the light fading by the minute.
