A Serious Accident On Crib Goch (featuring Llanberis Mountain Rescue)

When out and about on the mountains I often have my GoPro around my neck; to film little bits and pieces, or just in case something happens. And after having crossed Crib Goch ridge on a windy, misty March afternoon something most definitely happened! I was witness to a very nasty accident, and caught the entire aftermath on camera (please note that I was not leading the person involved). With the permission of the casualty I edited and posted this video in order to show people what it's like to be present on a lonely mountainside when the worst happens right in front of you. I did not make this video to be sensationalist. I made it because of how unique the POV footage is, and the points which can be learnt from watching the incident unfurl in real time.

Ed's Accident - An Intense Day On Crib Goch

This is the original video that I uploaded. It shows the immediate aftermath of the accident, during which we didn't even know where Ed was, and the very limited amount of stabilisation and protection we could offer him, due to the number and nature of Ed's injuries. It then shows what happens when Llanberis Mountain Mountain Rescue arrive on the scene and take over.

On a side note, I believe that this video is now used by multiple Outdoor First Aid trainers as homework to be watched by recruits before starting their courses.

Revisiting Ed's Slope

Six months after Ed's accident I returned to the scene in order to have a look at it in clearer weather, and to answer questions and address points made by people in the original video's comments (and other online forums).
